Parent's Guide

Lt Col Reynolds
Asthma is the most common chronic disease of childhood, and yet many parents don't know much about the condition. In the United States alone, it's estimated that around seven million children under the age of 18 have asthma, and that many others may have "hidden" or undiagnosed asthma. Asthma is the most common cause of school absenteeism due to chronic disease.

In this section, you can find information on your role as a parent in monitoring and controlling your child’s asthma, including things to consider when talking with your child’s provider. We also cover the importance of developing an asthma action plan and provide a sample action plan that you can share and discuss with your child’s provider.
