Dyslipidemia Welcome Video

Dyslipidemia

Thank you for visiting Cardiology Today: Dyslipidemia. Through engaging videos, cutting-edge animation, and extensive resources, we will help you understand the causes and consequences of high cholesterol, or dyslipidemia.

Lt Col Reynolds
Hello, and welcome to Cardiology Today, your resource for understanding heart disease. I’m Dr. Reynolds…

Maj West
… and I’m Dr. West. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and men in the United States. Each year, more than a million Americans have heart attacks, and about six hundred thousand people die from heart disease. That’s one in every four deaths.

Lt Col Reynolds
And one of the major risk factors for heart disease is dyslipidemia, which is an unhealthy level of lipids such as cholesterol, or fats, in your bloodstream. We will explain more as we get further in the program.

Maj West
We’ll also explain what can happen within your bloodstream if dyslipidemia goes untreated, using animations that will show you how dyslipidemia affects your body. In addition, this program offers videos of real patients who share their experiences with this condition. We will also explain which treatment options are available to help you control dyslipidemia.

Lt Col Reynolds
Finally, we’ll talk about the things you can do to lower your risk of being affected by dyslipidemia in the first place.
