Because the testicles hang outside the body and are not protected by bones or muscles, they are particularly susceptible to injury, or trauma.

Other benign, or non-cancerous, conditions that can affect the testicles include testicular torsion, inflammation or infection, hydroceles, spermatoceles, and hypogonadism.
