Hands and Knees Position

The hands and knees position can be beneficial in reducing back pain. To use this position, get on your hands and knees on the bed. Curl around your abdomen as the contraction starts and bear down. This position may be helpful for rotating your baby if he is in a posterior position, or sunny side up. This position may not be practical if you’ve had an epidural because your legs may not be strong enough to support you.
