When to Call Your Provider

Be sure to call your provider if you experience any of the following prior to your delivery:

  • Four or more painful cramping contractions within an hour, after resting and emptying your bladder
  • Bright red vaginal bleeding or a gush of fluid from your vagina
  • Persistent headaches that are not relieved by medication approved by your provider
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
  • Rapid swelling of hands and face
  • Constant right-upper belly pain (not related to baby movement)
  • Fever at or over 100.4° F, or 38° C
  • Loss of vision, or sudden changes in vision
  • If you think your water may have broken, or if the baby is not moving as much as you expect
  • Sudden weight gain
  • Burning, increased frequency, or an increased sense of urgency to urinate
  • A significant decrease in the amount of urine you are producing
  • Producing dark colored urine, or
  • Producing no urine at all
