Unfortunately, the exact causes of breast cancer are not known, but research has shown that certain risk factors can make it more likely that a woman will develop breast cancer at some point during her lifetime. Some risk factors are avoidable, but others are not.

Although many women experience no symptoms at all in the early stages of breast cancer, breast changes can be an indication that something’s not right. For this reason, it’s important to always discuss any breast changes with a provider, especially if they are persistent.
